It was decided that she needed to see a specialist for her limb. So up to Veterinary Specialty Center in Bannockburn we went to see Dr. Mitchell. He was absolutely amazing and gave her three options. It was decided that she would try PRP, platelet rich plasma injections. Bee was set up for a series of three injections. The procedure involves sedating her then blood is drawn and filtered to trap the platelets. Then the platelets are recovered and then inserted into the affected joint area. The actual procedure takes about 30 to 40 minutes, but she needed to be fasted and dropped off in the morning and picked up in the afternoon. It was decided that her first injection would be July 11. She was gone from eight until three and when I picked her up she was extremely tired and favoring her leg quite badly. The next day she was still very groggy and sleepy and limping. She mostly would sleep and did develop a little diarrhea. I’m sure just from all the stress. On Sunday, July 16 she was walking better, only limping a little bit when she would first stand up, and then it got better! She is perking up and she gets very excited when we wake up in the morning and also when I return home. She wants to come up to me, wagging her tail and extremely happy, but yet she just stares at me from a 6 foot distance. We will get there. 🙏🏼🐾❤️
Bee’s gate is still quite off. Sometimes she walks fine, but mostly she favors her left limb. I have sent videos of her to Dr. Newman and to Kristin for review.
